Hmm, what of the relative lack of crime in this country in the late 19th century, before drug prohibition was established. Cocaine, Heroin, and Cannabis were widely available over the counter.

Bout you state the above as if it's a given. I believe you will find most of the crimes that are allegedly drug related find their causal factor in the prohibition. I think you assume too much in the above, and experience, if viewed objectively, does not support your contention. It is incorrect to assume that correlation equals causation.
