Realistically, the gap is MUCH WIDER when running straight DOS applications!

Although DOS is out of favor (and "archaic"), DOS programs generally perform at the limits of the hardware.

Windows programs confuse speed issues because of all the message passing that goes on between the applications and the underlying Windows "shell".

If you search the WEB for K6 vs. Pentium II benchmarks, you will be surprised at how much faster the Pentium II is.

(I will provide some data/URLs if you are interested).
