BFR (Brute Force Report) - June 29 Location: COMPUSA, Glen Burnie, MD (South of Baltimore)
Well, just so we can deviate right away from the expected output of a BFR it turns out that the particular COMPUSA was restocked yesterday, so reporting numbers I think has a different twist to it. Since all the items have been restocked full up, I took numbers down and look at large numbers as being good rather than bad. Explained later
Monster IIID/Voodoo II/8M - 10 Monster IIID/Voodoo II/12M - 5 Monster IIID/Voodoo II/?M - ~10 (up to high, couldn't see the Ms) STB Black Magic/Voodoo II/12M 9 Monster IIID/Voodoo/4M 1 ($79.99)
Generally, other graphics cards were stocked to approx five.
Since they were just recently stocked up. I asked a couple of sales clerks what's selling: response Monster IIID.
I asked if there is any decrease in sales of 3D cards as compared to 6 months ago: Response, 3D cards are selling a fast as they come into the store, they are NEVER overstocked.
I asked how the Intel 740 based cards were selling: Response, some but not very well.
Explanation promised from above. I looked at the fact of the overwhelming number of Monster IIID cards, to a lesser degree the STB Black Magic in conjunction with yesterday's restocking, and the statement that they are never overstocked in 3D graphics cards as a positive, though potentially isolated, signal. i.e., 3D graphics card demand is as high as ever and they are moving in larger quantities of items that are selling the most, i.e., Voodoo II based cards.
Best Regards, Jim
