The "Powerball":

Thanks again, Bob, for the link concerning the "Powerball". Here's is my opinion about this development: the idea is technically correct, but not at all practical. Metal hydrides -and especially NaH- are very dangerous substances, because they can release large amounts of hydrogen rapidly. A car cannot be simply refilled with NaH "powerballs" like you refill a gasoline tank. These powerballs will obviously have to be delivered in a very tight metal container, just like pure hydrogen. Of course, carmakers have already voted against this idea because of the impracticality of storing and distributing fuel tanks. By endorsing the reformer-equipped FC that accepts methanol instead, I think that they're leaning toward using the existing infrastructure of gas stations. Sorry, but the "powerball" won't make it!
