Folks, if you've got the time and the inclination, stop in on some of the tech threads that are talking about the Asian crisis, and, occasionally, market valuations. Some of us are pretty biotech focused (ok, I am), and we forget there's a macro environment out there that affects us.

The net is there's some smart folks out there on the tech threads (hey, there's been big dollars made investing in their stocks over the past few years) ... and some of them have a lot to say. It's amazing to compare the AMAT thread, for example, with LGND. phew! makes me ashamed that I focus on biotech ... : )

so, if you're browsing, take a look at:

Asia / semiconductor capital equipment. combo of DRAM prices plummeting + Asian economies imploding has semicon cap equipment demand falling off of a cliff. good window into the Asian crisis (e.g., something to keep an eye on - let your mind wander on the potential impact of a) Japan failing to deal with their banking crisis and b) China devaluing) plus occasional reminders that the US markets haven't repealed the law of gravity ... as much as we think they have

AMAT

Also, enjoy the following short-selling threads ... I'm fundamentally a long by approach, but there are some smart folks out there culling the herd ...

Bill Wexler's Profits of Doom /* this was recommended by I forget, maybe Rick H?
