Hi Russell: I recently witnessed a demo of ADSL at Bell Atlantic's office in Beltsville, MD. It handles data and audio alright, but video not real well. Very compressed and unreliable. It is better for distance learning applications where you are using only a couple of channels and do not have to compress the signals too much (this was my interest in it). 100 plus channels--looked like crap (have to compress alot). I would not consider this a serious threat for providing large #'s of full-motion video channels over copper and the folks I spoke with BA didn't look at it this way either; at least not yet.

LMDS, in my opinion, is a much bigger threat when looking at offering 100 plus video channels and intractive video and data. For a while folks discounted LMDS becuase MMDS had such a huge jump. But since nothing has been deployed with MMDS yet, and LMDS auctions are upcoming, well...
