Logically, MMs make such a bundle on the spread, why would they normally be interested in betting their wad on a risky long or short position? OTC:BB stocks evaporate with regularity. It's the MM's larger clients who probably cause most of the problems for the small investor.

I assert that it is evil daytraders like myself who do most of the manipulation. Especially in OTC stocks. MMs know when we arrive and probably don't care as long as they make their cut on the increased volume. If they do decide to participate in a raid, they would want the increased volatility just as much as we do. Why on earth would MM's short against us on the way up? Why not go short with us at the top?

"Real" (listed) companies are usually just a little too difficult to budge. I personally don't think the entire assets of the wolfpack could cause MSFT to budge a teeny in either direction for more than sixty seconds. We could sit on the MSFT thread and post patently false information all day long and nothing meaningful would happen to the price.
