Bad example. Visit Germany and go on the Autobahn. The Autobahn has fewer accidents, despite the greater speeds, than US highways. One side effect: most Autobahn accidents are fatal. However, I don't think you could realistically claim that speed is a determining factor in the # accidents. Besides, I noticed signs going up in NJ and NY last month...the speed limit was raised. Looks like we'll all be going a little faster.... I want a definition of the common good that I (and others) can live with. Problem with it is that you can't do it. Laws can be individualized to a far greater extent than the common good can be applied as a "litmus test".
