Internet Direct Marketing Banner Captures Lion at Cannes

NEW YORK, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- An Internet advertisement in which web surfers can
subscribe to a magazine has been honored with a CyberLion award at the 45th International
Advertising Festival in Cannes, France. The advertisement was created by Thinking Media
Corporation for Home PC magazine, and won in the Direct Response category. The distinctive lion's
head trophy was presented at an evening ceremony in the Palais des Festivals.

Owen Davis, Thinking Media's Managing Director, commented, ''What tickles us is that judges
from all over the world recognized a banner that's not about clicking-through to a website. It's a
reminder that the things that an Internet ad was capable of doing even a few months back are no
indication what it's capable of doing now.''

The Cannes Lion awards are among the most prestigious in the world for creativity in print, outdoor,
and cinema and TV advertising. This year marked the first time the Festival honored advertising
created for the Internet. Only 16 ''CyberLions'' were awarded for categories that include both
Websites and advertising in all formats. The 8-person jury for the CyberLions included senior
advertising executives from the United States, France, Germany, Norway and Brazil.

The Home PC banner combines Internet marketing technology with a sense of humor by displaying
an animated sticker, resembling the familiar adhesive sticker in direct mailings, which the web surfers
drags to a target spot. The banner then reveals a ''Free Issue'' offer and an order form for
subscribing to the magazine, without leaving the banner. The Home PC banner may be viewed on
Thinking Media's website at thethinkingmedia.com.

Credits for the winning banner go Vid Jain, Eric Wertzer, Mikhail Larianov, and Mr. Davis.

Mr. Davis pointed out that the banner uses Thinking Media's ActiveAds(SM) technology, which
enables it to load onto a web page in a file only 5 kilobytes in size. ActiveAds is a suite of techniques
for delivering dynamic online content based on the Java Internet language. Other components include
Sonata(SM), a tool kit for creating advanced banners; ActiveTrack(SM) for tracking results; and
ActiveCommerce(SM), for clearing secure in-banner credit card transactions.

In May of this year the Home PC banner was honored with a Silver Award at the Ad: Tech
Conference and Expo in Chicago.
