I'm sure that this practice goes on in every level of investing to some extent...from the bb's all the way to IBM.....all the way to Alan Greenspan. JMO Well obviously. Let's say your good old broker, Morgan Stanley, who happens to make a market in XYZ and which they have highly skilled analyst on the scene, calls up their clients and says, "XYZ" is an excellent opportunity to make a quick buck. So the "in-crowd" gets in. Now Morgan Stanley puts out an "UPGRADE, Strong Buy". Since they make a market in the stock they reap nice profits along with their clients, and the other people are left holding a promoted stock. I guess professional promotion is ok. Cliff
