Dave:

..Either way, as I said, I do not trust someone as passionate and persevering as he was about DGIV being a scam.

Passion has nothing to do with it, facts do.

Plus he exhibits the traits that I don't like. For instance in his posts he says "check this" or "call so and so". Why does he not supply names and phone numers or offer to email or fax proof?

Why should he do your work? He provided a road map for you to learn the what he believes to be the truth. If you are strongly convinced that he is a basher then do the following and refute his analysis with facts:

1. Pick up some accounting texts and learn how and why items are posted to financial statements:

2. Get copies of the SEC Rules cited and try to independently determine if his statements are reasonable and sound:

3. Pick up some texts on corporate finance and learn about cost of capital, marginal cost of capital, capital budgeting, cash management, credit policies, etc:

4. Pick up some texts on valuation and learn the basics of appraisal. At least learn the definitions of the 3 main techniques of valuation, where they stand alone and when they interrelate.

If you do this you can go toe-to-toe with any basher. Doubts refuted dispassionately, grounded in fact, ultimately strengthen the confidence of investors to support a company and its stock.

Without this knowledge, you are gambling, not investing.

This is america and that is how I feel.

Not to be rude, but what does feeling have to do with investing? To the professional, the burden of legal liability requires a strong foundation of credible and verifiable information before any purchase recommendation is made to a client. "I like this company / stock" is not a defense. Would you accept the foregoing statement from a fee-based counselor?
