I think that Agouron wants to make sure that they are an important player in the HIV field no matter what happens. They have now licensed a PI and a NNRTI that both have different resistance profiles than the currently existing or to be introduced drugs. On the other hand they seem to de-emphasize their cancer program. I was pretty surprised that they did not issue a press release when they started the AG3340 phase II/III trial. Andreas
