Exerpt from "The Vancouver Sun", June 30/98 page A5

"The evidence of engineer Robert Thompson was more concrete. Thompson presented the Global Positioning System navigation device taken from Walker's boat, the 'Lady Jane'. GPS devices can home in on satellite signals to pinpoint a vessel's latitude and longitude within 100 metres.

Taylor [sic Thompson?] demonstrated that the 'Lady Jane' had been at a spot not quite four nautical miles from where Platt's body was recovered when the device was last turned off while at sea"
