Use of a usr X2 modem without standards will still be a modem, (Q: would these be 33.6 or 28.8 operation) and when or where X2 is available in USR mode (i.e. through AOL account) it will then function at 28x56. (or is it, 33.6x56?). When standards are implemented the user gets a download and it operates to the standard. At that time any other modems on the market that will do x2 wil l do it to the standard. I don't see the problem. Or any "arm-twisting": USR is simply first to market with a workable solution, and they will be the first with extensive field experience once it is actually used.
