Re: I am afraid that we might ulimately become R&D and service industry.

An economy is based on production/productivity which generates
consumers and service industries. I'd hate to think that the US
semiconductor industry could go the way of the Dodo bird as have
our television, stereo, camcorder, microwave, etc, etc, industries.
It looks as though economies of scale/profit margins will win in the
end. I guess that is what capitalism is all about, "He who produces/sells a product more efficiently than his competitors will
ultimately own the market".
