Alex, Look for this anti-$, anti-paper currency sentiment to spread beyond Islam. A dozen economies have had their wealth evaporate into thin air, in some cases, simply because their paper currencies were viewed as "indefensible", apart from any basis in economic reality. This lack of stability cannot and, rightly, should not be tolerated any longer. IMO, the move to an Islamic gold standard is entirely justified and rational. Also, their timing couldn't be better. :o)
