yes US savings rate is at very low levels. But the question was not how much boomers were saving. It was about what percentage of total savings was going to equities. My point that it is very natural for people in their 40s and 50s to be moving a large portion of their savings into equities and that real estate would decline as a percentage of total assets as that investment tends to be made in the 30s or earlier.

As to your point, are boomers putting to much confidence in the equities markets to bail them out on their meager savings. Absolutely!
