Mason,

based on what I have read to date, a give this bridge bank idea a marginal chance of success.

I have not read anywhere that any institution is going to be closed. It sounds more like business as usual with the exception that the government bank will take all the bad loans.

Having been involved with the RTC as a vendor, the inefficiencies of such an agency in mind boggling. So far, the Hashimoto government has not demonstrated that they are willing or able to deal with the problem.

Isn't it logical that if the Japanese government wants to bail out the banks, first and foremost, they should look at the books to see how much it is going to cost. Until I see something more substantial, this bridge bank is doomed for failure.

As for permanent tax cuts, that is just about the funniest thing I ever heard. Is there such a thing as permanent tax cuts? Just "read my lips".

In the home front, SUNW and ATML are the most recent to feed the bears. I guess I am still choosing the side lines versus jumping in. It market rallies, shorts may be in order.
