Uni Gold HIV? Maybe, but there is currently a huge issue at the FDA. Currently, they are very reluctant to approve any additional HIV test to any company without a valid license for HIV2. Although HIV2 (and type O) are not large health concerns in this country, they are holding to this position. This may change, as numerous health organizations are saying that more testing is more important than the numbers with type O or Hiv2. However, if they do hold to the current position, they will not grant approval, as TRIBY does not have a license for HIV2. The patent holder, Sanofi, has granted only two. One to Ortho Chiron and one to Abbott. With Abbott currently developing their own rapid format, it is highly unlikely that Triby will be able to gain a valid HIV2 license. All other testing companies in the HIV area freely admit this is an issue.
