LoD, I never said that Dell was falling off the cliff. However, if the upcoming quarter's numbers don't meet the expectation of the Street we are going to see the stock get hammered. The whisper numbers are just as important as the published ones.
The "problem" will Dell is that the stock is so finely tuned to the high level of performance, that there is no margin for error. As I said in another posting, Dell has no monopoly on their business model and the other box makers could copy it...that is, if they wanted to go through the pain of the transition from their current models.
I am not saying that Dell is a bad company. In fact, I think they are a great company. I own a Dell desktop for the past 1 1/2 years, and love the computer.
If there is a "problem" with Dell, it lies with the hype that surrounds the stock and its lofty pe ratio.
I am bullish on Dell, however, I am concerned about the hype and pe. I know other companies, such as Microsoft, have equivalent pe's, however, these companies dominate their markets.
However, I sure wish Dell continued success, and my we all prosper along with Dell.
