hey fellows: Dont you think its possible that Atmel's management is merely acquiring some of the companies to restructure their costs and or offer further benefits? Right now probably acquisitions were cheap in this market. As to the stock buyback program, maybe they saw that near term expansion out the window due to markets so thought that by buying back some stock they could support the price, not to mention got the stock at lower prices than it had been. Seems to me they are just trying their all to improve shareholder value rather than sit on their Duffs and wait for the market to improve. JDN
