Ken, I ended up renaming the subfiles by right clicking on them and using the rename function after opening the file in the virtual screen. This seemed to work fine--I had originally tried to rename by using the rename function in Microsoft Explorer.

The bigger problem has been the virtual system itself; no matter what I did, it would freeze up at the most inopportune time, and I'd have to reboot at least twice, sometimes three times, before I regained control of the computer. I ended up having to delete all the virtual files to preserve my sanity, and going back to manually exporting tickers into Metastock after doing a scan, and then naming these files in the automatic update section of qp2. The problem, of course, with this, is the amount of manual intervention each time I run a scan, in exporting to Metastock and then remembering to identify these Metastock files in qp2 so that the next night they get updated. Also, and more importantly, I can't keep in Metastock all 10000 tickers, because it would take too much time to update them each night.

The big attraction to qp2 was the virtual feature. If they can't get the bugs worked out, qp2 is still better than qp1 in terms of flexibility for running scans and in having more indicators and fundamental data. However, it would be real nice to be able to have all the tickers in Metastock, and not have to manually export one every time I want to see a chart that isn't already in Metastock due to a prior scan.
