Points well taken, and similarly felt. Assuming that the Koreans just quit making DRAMs (not my assumption but just for grins), supply/demand economics would shift towards price/megabyte stabilization, but the impact on semi equip mfgers would be negative. So what might be DRAM fabbers gain may become equip mfgers loss.

This win/lose scenario is likely to drag on for months given the vested interests of all the nationalities that are vying for position in this game right now.

What is really needed are killer apps/operating systems which demand gross memory upgrades from all hackers and companies big and small. A future PC which must have say 1G memory to turn on, yet no one can be without. Unfortunately I cannot see that eventuality.

This is not like the oil industry where every week I take out another $20 spot and send my offering into the oligarchy, to keep my mobility unthreatened. Too bad, too! We should have banned the 40 year bathtub curve from the start.
