The reason GE is not producing gold from the old mining shafts anymore was due to:
1) less than expected grades of gold ore
2) currently low POG making the operation marginal at best
3) switching resources to the development of the open pit mine where much larger volume of material can be processed using much better recovery methods. This info can be obtained from the SEC documents filed earlier this year.
