Mike; I met with Martin and David yesterday morning. I was very impressed with the Compaq WindowsCE machine, but its a little bigger than my HPLX, sko I'm not giving that up :) Anyway, I was impressed with the tech, especially the middleware component. Page-enabled applications I feel are CRUCIAL to this market and page-enabled ACT and Lotus Notes are great selling points for vertical markets. My main concerns are as follows: 1) Motorola this morning announced it will stop production of its Marco and Envoy devices and instead concentrate on wireless modem paging tech. 2) How long is Socket's lead technologically? Is it 6 months, one year or longer. Since predictions are for breakeven in Q4-1997 Socket's lead had better be more than one year! 3) How badly will shareholders be diluted. Socket needs money, and Martin and David know this, but where is Charlie Bass, surely he could put up the cash. If I knew Charlie was boosting his stake, I'd be much more comfortable.
