The federal government is made up of representatives throughout the entire country. You seem to forget that you elect your federal government. It was an overagressive US Legislative branch that caused the Civil War from both sides. Also, check your history. Nowhere was it written that Lincoln would abolish slavery when he was elected. He was open to debate on that issue. It was factions that caused that war, and a strong federal government would not have allowed this. The states are more united than ever because we have a strong federal government. If you don't believe me, read a US history book. Matty Gregg
