Lehman Releases List Of 10 Uncommon Values In Stock Market July 01, 1998 9:54 AM
NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Lehman Brothers Inc. on Wednesday released its list of "10 Uncommon Values" in the stock market.
Lehman said that stocks that make the list are "overlooked stock(s) that we anticipate will outperform the market over the portfolio's 12-month time frame."
This year's companies are: Applied Materials Inc. (AMAT), Office Depot Inc. (ODP), Clear Channel Communications Inc. (CCU), Progressive Corp. (PGR), Comverse Technology Inc. (CMVT), Star Banc Corp. (STB), Danaher Corp. (DHR), Tyco International Inc. (TYC), Illinova Corp. (ILN) and WorldCom Inc. (WCOM).
Several of last year's selectees posted substantial gains over the 12-month period from the close of June 30, 1997, through June 30, 1998. America Online Inc. (AOL) added 281%, Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV) rose 72% and Safeway Inc. (SWY) climbed 76%. The group as a whole tacked on 48.6%, according to Scott Collins, a member of the investment advisory committee that compiles Lehman's list.
