Zurdo: The Public Citizen group has been around for years and grew out of Ralph Nader's organization. They considered themselves the "watchdogs" of the US health organization and the FDA. Their comments concerning Viagra are actually relatively mild for the group. They usually call for the immediate removal of drugs from the market place. Public Citizen is basically saying that impotence is often caused by other drugs that simply need a dosage adjustment and that Viagra is being used in some patients with cardiovascular disorders that were not included in the original 4,700 Viagra Phase II and Phase III patients. In response the FDA "remains convinced that Viagra is safe when used by the right men." Pfizer is also restating "there are no new trends that would warrant a change in the product's label."
