Maurice oh Mighty Kiwi, methinks you missed the point (which I of course ascribe to some Sherry dipping rather than a failure of intellect). The poster which drew your ire was not intent on boosting the credentials of the marketing/tasseled loafer crew but rather pleading for balance in the engineering denizens, to wit: the San Diego techno-titans are hell bent to get the gizzards right but can't be bothered when it comes time to design a frigging phone that won't fall off your belt! Their rallying cry seems to be: we don't do no stinking plastic molding injection technology and particularly not when that stuff is so mundane when it comes time to get the RF of the ASIC in psychic-sink with TCP/IP in cyberspace via WDM and DAMA if you get my acronymic drift which is where they really get their jollies. Sam and Sally phone user will never appreciate the damned phone if it's in little bits and pieces cause it's lying on the floor or cause the clam shell decoupled from the Mother of Pearl or whatever the hell happened. Try telling them that their 1900Mhz is way cool but you can't call Round Table and get a pizza cause the friggin thing don't work. We needs the way cools and a FUNCTIONING PHONE if I may be so crude. As to the marketing folks, well everybody's got to make a living (and yes I do think the current fad of branding has gone way too far).
