Probably .30-30. Underrated round, IMO. My first centerfire was a Marlin .30-30, the 24" barrel version. Nice gun for under 200 yds. Another great thing about the short (NOT sawed-off) 12 ga. for home defense is the noise & flash of it all. In the dark, in an enclosed space, it gives the impression of being a small artillery piece. Even if round 1 doesn't hit anything, only a very hardcore intruder would hang around for round 2. Walls I meant were internal walls. Not that I plan on having gunfights in my house, but if I ever have to (unlikely event where I live now) I don't want much penetration. Thought on the gov. is right on, but how do we make sure that only the honest gun owners own guns. Hope we can find an answer before the ban-the-gun crowd imposes theirs. Steve
