DR. PAUL FICK: Sex Will Bring Down Bill Clinton

George Putnam show
7-1-98 Doug from Upland

Highlights of the interview with Dr. Paul Fick, author of THE DYSFUNCTIONAL PRESIDENT, on the George Putnam show. Some of the discussions on the show were the same ones I had in a private phone conversation with him which were chronicled in a previous post.

* He sees it as unfortunate but what he has predicted about Bill Clinton is coming to pass. Clinton did not get help for his sexual compulsion and has engaged in behavior that is more and more dangerous. Fick believes, as does our heroine Lucianne and hero Matt Drudge, that sex is going to bring him down. All Clinton can do is keep trying to delay the inevitable.
* Nothing Clinton does shocks him anymore. He has the classic behavior of the sexual compulsive and has seen these symptoms for years. The strees in office would inevitably bring out more significant sexual acting out.
* Fick again said that the Branscomb/Hill trial in 1996 in Little Rock cause Clinton to perjure himself at least seven times. Clinton was selling state commissions for $50K. Bert Dickey brought several people forward to Fick who then got them in touch with the office of the special counsel. Fick provided those in January, 1996. It is solid information.
* Clinton, as a sexual compulsive, has little empathy for those who give in to his desires. He cares only about himself and what will further his personal ends.
* Clinton's need to hide his sexual compulsion from public detection has resulted in further reckless behavior which includes illegal behavior. An example is the pulling of the files of Tripp, Lewinsky and Willey. It is a pattern of behavior which has been going on for many years.
* His sexual compulsion comes from his failure to ever deal with his traumatic childhood which involved an alcoholic dad and physical violence in the home.
* There will be no end to his exploits until he gets help. * Those who are covering for him and the public who support him are allowing his behavior to be reinforced.
* Without help, his problems and the country's problems will escalate. We have a potential tremendous tragedy for both him and the country. People who say what he does in private does not affect his job are speaking from ignorance. His preoccupation is overwhelming and he can't focus on what needs to be done. He acts out on his compulsion and then he despairs. One example of potential damage is that a young intern, Monica Lewinsky, was moved to the Pentagon with top security clearance that she should have never received. There is great potential for blackmail because he needs to continue to coverup.
* His sexual compulsion will have him acting out behavior that is more exciting and more on the edge. Some of it involves the potential to get caught such as Willey right next to the oval office and Monica in the oval office.
* Clinton knows he has the problem but won't get help. Fick recalls that Dolly Kyle Browning confronted him with it and he admitted it and started to cry.
* He continues to use cognitive distortions (twisted thinking) to justify his behavior such as oral sex is not adultery and not completing the act doesn't count. He is fooling himself that he is not doing damage to his spouse and daughter.
* Roger Morris (PARTNERS IN POWER) has tracked down at least 100 women with whom he was involved.
* One story to come out could be a bombshell and may be in the Paula Jones deposition. It involved a state employee servicing him in the governor's office while on duty on state time.
* When we weigh the evidence, who do we believe -- Clinton and those who have a personal stake in maintaining their power or the huge number of people who faced adversity to come forward with their stories?

* Hillary has traded a destructive marriage and public humiliation for power. She does not hold him accountable and that pushes him on.
* Fick said that if he were Clinton he would certainly appeal the ruling to open up the Jones testimony. It contains some very damaging stuff.
* The truth will ultimately bear out - sex compulsion and illegal acts of coverup. It is much more than just the sex spin that they would have us believe.
