Lots of educational possibilities out there, but what if they were mandatory? And if they were run by a private organization like the NRA, records on who participated wouldn't have to go to the government. I think the NRA needs to take a soft approach sometimes, maybe even softer than they do. There's a lot of people out there, many of those inexperienced urbanites we talked about, who don't really understand the issue, but have a gut dread of a city street filled with people with guns hanging from their belts (too many movies, maybe). We shouldn't be treating those people as enemies, no matter how foolish they may seem. They do have a few points we need to think about, and given the changing demographics, they could vote us into a corner someday. I've talked to some Aussies, most couldn't care less. They don't have the firearms tradition, or the crime level, that we have. Steve
