I also don't think our crime level is caused by guns, but I do think people are passionate about guns - on both sides - because of the crime level. People hear about street gangs with Uzis, half of them think "destroy all guns", the other half thinks "I gotta get a bigger gun". Unfortunately, when those two groups start fighting each other, we lose track of the core problems.
