Since nobody answered your question...I guess I'll have to.

"Do you know how many, and where, the diamond mines in North America are? No civil wars here."

The only one that I know of...I believe it is the "only" one...Is the Crater of Diamonds State Park, near Murfreesboro, Arkansas. It was once owned by my great aunt and uncle...both since passed away....who sold it to the state of Arkansas, in around 1974.

There have been numerous attempts to mine diamonds commercially...even some by the state...and ever so often, it comes up again, but as of yet, there has not been any commercial operation.
It is a place where you can pick up a shovel and dig around in the dirt...and maybe find a "bigun"...

I have a cousin, who practically "lived there" for about 2 years, and made a good living digging....although it was backbreaking work....eventually he had to quit because he snapped a ligament in his forearm..."ouch"

I believe the biggest diamond ever found there was in the neighborhood of about 25 carats...named the "Star of Arkansas"

Do I pass???
