I think your problems today are two-fold.

As an options trader, you will find that the market will be thin as a result of traders skipping out to the beach, the bar or the golf course. This will make spreads wider as well, and any large trades will create unusual motion so Market Orders will almost certainly not be the order of the day.

Secondly, premium will be stripped aggressively. If your posture is to hit the high with speculative puts may I make the suggestion that you also glance at the call side. A credit spread with calls could be more profitable. Just a thought.
