On this date in music history in 1943 the No. 1 "Billboard" Pop Hit was
"Comin' In On A Wing And A Prayer," The Spinners.

Elvis Presley recorded "Don't Be Cruel," "Hound Dog" and "Anyway You
Want Me" in New York in 1956. It marked the first time Presley used The
Jordanaires as background singers.

The No. 1 "Billboard" Pop Hit in 1963 was "Easier Said Than Done," The
Essex. The members of the group were all U.S. Marines.

The No. 1 "Billboard" Pop Hit in 1973 was "Will It Go Round In Circles,"
Billy Preston.

The No. 1 "Billboard" Pop Hit in 1984 was "When Doves Cry," The Artist
then known as Prince.

Several people were injured at a Guns N' Roses concert in Maryland
Heights, Mo. in 1991. Lead singer Axl Rose was charged with third-degree
assault and property damage, but did not turn himself in for a year.

Mick Jagger's daughter Jade gave birth to a daughter in 1992. She was
the first grandchild for the 48-year-old Rolling Stone.
