Jacob, you're right, we did... this excerpt does not seem to support the idea of product shortages at Intel (at least not to me)... Some analysts are so easy, it seems. And I don't remember plant closures at Intel in '96, does anyone? "Basically, we are responding to market conditions," said Bill MacKenzie, a public information officer at Intel, in confirming the moves. The company produces processors for the vast majority of the world's personal computers. Plant closures are unusual at Intel and rarely discussed outside the company. The company said earlier this year that it would lower headcount by 3,000, but the new developments seem to indicate a growing aggressiveness in cutting costs.
