I was at Wal-Mart last night with my niece and she laughingly pointed out what she thought was a "Toy Story" rip-off video. (You know what I mean - like when Pocahontas came out there were at least a half dozen cheap-o non-Disney Pocahontas videos for sale that weren't worth watching.)

Anyway, I took a closer look and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was a video collection of Pixar's early short subjects. The cover of the video says "PIXAR presents TINY TOY STORIES" at the top and at the bottom says "5 Amazing Computer Animated Shorts from the Award-Winning Creators of Disney's Toy Story."

I'm happy that Pixar's name appears on the top of the video, and I hope this means that Pixar will get most of the profits from it. The only thing that upset me about the video was that the short story Knicknack has some well endowed female characters, and one of them is pictured on the back of the video wearing, ..umm, ..well, not much of anything. If I had young kids I would never buy a video that had such a picture on it. Maybe I'm more prudent than most people, but I think that this video may not sell very well to its target market.

I did buy the video (my niece is 16), and really enjoyed seeing the old Pixar productions that I hadn't seen in nearly a decade.
