Personally, I can't answer the $64 K question you pose. Lehman Bros. seems to think that SFAM is not losing market share to AMAT, but they have yet to update after this latest earnings announcement (or loss announcement whichever you prefer). I still believe in the CMP story as a critically enabling technology for die shrinks (and for increased areal density in disk drives), however, it looks like for the time being most semiconductor manufacturers will not be upgrading their plant and equipment. Anybody listen to the conference call? I'm interested in any forward looking statements they may have made.
