j, thanks for the drop limit correction. No doubt that the telcos are in a better position to provide high-speed internet conections than the cable companys. CAWS will need to provide their high-speed internet connection at a price that the average web-surfing household can afford. Right now, in most places around this country, web surfers are not paying, and are not going to pay the high tariff for ISDN BRI which is usually a flat rate plus metered service usage. Telecommuniting on the other hand, where the boss pays the bill, IDSN, SW56 and the like are cost effective and will be subscribed to. ADSL as well as MMDS internet connections will be no exception to the economies of scale. The first high-speed internet provider to offer connections at a price that "Joe web-surfer" can afford, IMO, will take the lead in this market.
Message for BANX and CAWS: When you finally step up to the plate, don't over charge for the high-speed internet service. Price this service about the same as my second analog POTS line/local ISP, otherwise like ISDN, you will not have many subscribers.
