Thx to the good Doctor for checking in with us.

Keep in mind , we have to keep these HIV test protocols in the proper perspective.

Blood Bank Donor Centers and major Medical Centers such as Emory University are NOT using rapid HIV screening tests such as Unigold HIV that we have been discussing at this forum.
I doubt if we ever will see a rapid HIV screening test as the only test utilized in screening Blood for transfusion.

Genetic Systems, now part of Sanofi/ Pasteur from Redmond , Washington has issued these licenses to Abbott Diagnostics ( ABT ) and Abbott pretty much controls this Clinical Laboratory business. Trinity is not involved in these markets although Sanofi has been buying the Trinity Biotech Captia Syphilis test for Blood Bank screening.( The only one with U.S. FDA approval )

As for these sub-groups of HIV we keep hearing about, the list keeps getting longer and longer and for any company to develop a current all inclusive HIV screen which is sensitive to all these sub- groups is a daunting task indeed. Is this what is holding up things at CDC ? FDA ? How sensitive can an HIV screening test become ? Are there more sub-groups coming out of Africa ? Ivory Coast ? Fiji Islands ? Bora Bora ?

Has anyone spoken to CDC ? FDA ?

~~~ stay tuned ~~~~
