Modem upgrades are slow because of one thing,(IMO) as things are in my area, you can buy a 56k modem and it will only connect at 31200. Sometimes at 28,800. Whether it be the phone line, ISP not carrying v.90, it makes no difference. Why PAY for something that does not help? btw...my ISP has a good chunk of the business here and has a very reputable name. They have been trying to get the v.90 ISP upgrade and cannot get it from COMS. I this is not true in all areas, but it is why 56k is slow overall in this area.
