Peter<. Now that we broke 120, will we stop going up now? Don't bet on it> I agree. Amzn will not take a hit until the Morgan Stanelys let go. Let me try to give you an example of what I'm talking about. Everyone here knows that Amzn has, in reality, a thin float. If only a few institutions (in this case it's Msdw,AlexB,MerrilL,Vinik) control the float then they can control the stock price. So if, say a TomD decides that he has made enough profit and puts in a sell of, say, 2000 shares @ market , MSetc just buy it from him, move his stock into their inventory, hold it or have their retail guys sell it to some yuppie who wants to own it @ all cost. Remember what Cramer said about 'Amzn sellers have not shown up yet'. This manipulation (please believe me, this is legal) can be controlled until the big sellers show up and the big sellers are not here on SI. I think what is important is trying to figure when the MS's will leave and that call is a bitch because of the Internet frenzy. In the past it would have been easier, because earnings, or a lack of them, would have had a big time impact. Fundamentals would also play a role. But not Amzn! Please remember, this is nothing other than a 'CONCEPT' stock that doesn't have to deliver anything but revenue increases for how long? The conservative guess is 5 years while the MS thinks Amzn might be able to get away with for, maybe 10yrs. The only play here (imhop) is call's and longs, but only for the pure momentum gamblers. |
