I wonder where you get that, since many of my technical colleagues have horror stories to tell about Newbridge. I guess every brand has its fans--even the Yugo's of the car world. For the starving college student, the Yugo is a great value. For others, it's cheap.
Who are your technical colleagues? Are they associated with a telco? A vendor? A competitor?
I need to know where you're coming from to assess yours and their comments. Based on recent outages and on recent contract wins and losses, we could accuse every networker of being a Yugo --- even Cisco.
This is not to say you've given bad information, just to say let's put it in context so fact doesn't become fiction.
I don't know about pricing but if that's the issue, could it be due to the fact NN's been making ATM switches far longer than anyone else? Maybe what you're calling a Yugo is really a Volkswagen. Again, I don't know their pricing. For all I know, they may be Dinos. Certainly, their contracts with BT, MCI, AT&T, and dozens of others --- this week, Singapore Telecom --- indicate they have competitive products major companies trust.
Not meaning to be contrary. I like NN and ASND equally. Right now I think the former has more upside potential.
