<<I missed the boat.>> Not necessarily ! To all : I did manage to talk to Joe Grillo at Proteon IR and what he told me in a nutshell was that their current strategy is primarily to try to sell their products through the telcos, so this recent development should be helpfull to their long term strategy. They are completely getting out of the token ring buisiness (Legacy) which they consider to be unprofitable baggage, apparently so much so that they are even considering changing their name. When I asked if they were the only company supplying NTT with ISDN stuff he said " yes, on the network edge " by which he explained that when NTT-AT sets up their clients with remote and local access, they automaticly promote Proteon's routers and software, unless the client specifically requests equipment from Cisco or someone else, in which case NTT will supply them with whatever they want. They are hoping that this alliance will give them the exposure and credibility to acheive a "domino effect " and open the door for other telco alliances. Of course I asked about revenues, and of course he wouldn't volunteer any projections, although he did say that he expected a couple of sales from NTT to show up on this quarters figures. ( I think this may be important even if the $ amount isn't much - it would provide the kind of immediate tangible results that are important for a successful turnaround story). They are also planning to spend a considerable amount on advertising next quarter, which for them is necessary, I think. He also said that, as far as he knew, the recent runup was not related to the announcement and he didnt know of any leaks.
