Dear Ray and Steve:

Amplifying Ray's comments concerning fiber to the
neighborhood + xDSL for the last 2,000ft, I am wondering
actually if a fiber to the business district + VDSL
for the last 2,000ft might not be competitive against
broadband wireless. We all know that fiber to the
building is not competitive for most buildings because
of high trenching costs, but if these costs are shared
among multiple buildings, fiber + VDSL might have a
competitive cost structure with respect to broadband
wireless. The trouble is of course that VDSL is still
in its infancy.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy
