I have a no-fee IRA stock account with Tradestar (formerly Savoy), and they seem to be ok.

They do allow options. Had only one instance of a trade in a volatile stock not going through because they said my account didn't have enough for the trade (unlikely). It was just as well, because the stock I wanted to buy subsequently dropped like a rock.
On-line response time during trading hours could be better, but during peak times I have not found any of the on-line brokers to be fast enough for real-time trading. Day trading would be fine, though. Besides, Tradestar recently did a customer satisfaction survey and sent me a coffee mug for answering, so what more could I ask? They support normal accounts, margin accounts, options and quotes. Their IRAs, including regular, Roth and education IRAs, are no-fee. They send confirmations and statements, and they answer their e-mails and telephones if you have questions about a trade. Good luck. If you find a broker with lightning fast response time who also allows options, please let me know. |
