There is some great discussion going on over in the VoIP thread if you care to visit or join in the discussion. At the present time discussion is centering on this very subject of DSL distances, feasibilities, market acceptance, etc.

There was a time, not long ago, that I suggested moving some of the last mile discussion taking place in the VoIP thread to this Last Mile thread, but I couldn't figure out a graceful way to transition it. I think that the last mile discussion has formed momentum there and has created considerable inertia of its own.

Whereas, about a year ago or more, I began injecting VoIP discussion in this thread, before it was fashionable to discuss it as a viable technology. I believed then, as I do now, that VoIP will have become fully accepted only once it exists in the last mile.

And today we find last mile techs being discussed in the VoIP thread. Go figure.
