Mystery to me. Up the last few days too.

But price was getting ridiculously low, so maybe just buying on dips by PBHG, AIM, Seligman etc. FYI, I noted in recent back issue of Red Herring that Amerindo Investment Advisors (most successful money management firm in the solar system, largest initial shareholder of Cisco, Oracle etc.) is the largest holder of AVNT. Amerindo has historically been a private management fund, also recently opened a public mutual fund which I believe was fully subscribed in first 40 nanoseconds it was available. Amerindo only does long, long, long term holds, also they only hold about 20 companies at a time, very large stakes. Amerindo founder, Alberto Vilar, was pounding the table over AVNT. Admittedly he has a vested interest in seeing the price go up. They are also largest shareholder of Parametric Technology. Some of his other major holdings are Cascade, Ascend, Premisys, Xylan, Pure Atria, Remedy, Arbor Software.

I don't own this one (AVNT) yet -- I was worried it would go down farther. What a chicken. But I will probably buy on the next dip.
Brgds, Tom White
