Clinton is more intelligent than most of the reporters and politicians of every hue, color and spectrum. That is the reason why he has come up so far. Now it is time to take on the Chinese. Subvert their political system by trading with them, create a positive trading balance on the chinese side, introduce all the western ways and customs, unobstrusively sabotage the chinese thinking on their one-man rule and brain-wash the tomorrow's leaders in to thinking why democracy is better than one-man rule. Neat ideas. Even though I am opposed to MFN status accorded to Chinese, there may be an "agenda behind the president's smile in China" to paraphrase one of the Chinese students. This is what Clinton calls as constructive engagement and strategic partnership. These are code words for: destroy their political system, introduce market economy, brain wash the future political leaders, democratization of their political system etc. All of the above sound fine to me. The chinese took the bait and will never be the same. See what happened to erstwhile USSR.

Coming to natural and man-made disasters in India, Indians and their institutions will plod along without any distinction. India won't make it big in the family of nations as far as corruption exists, but it will survive as a nation.
